Shonen Knife joined to “Better Times Project” which organized by Janis Ian.
Shonen Knife joined to “Better Times Project” which is organized by Janis Ian who is an American famous Grammy Awards singer song writer. Inspired by the death of a country singer John Prine caused by COVID-19, she started this project. It is the project that she announced to various artists from all over the world to cover her specially written new song “Better Times Will Come”.
Many artists like a world famous drummer Steve Gadd, Neil Finn from Crowded House or San Diego Women's Chorus have already joined this project and covered the song.
Getting an offer from Janis, Shonen Knife joined to this project. They did virtual session by each member.
You can download the all version of the song “Better Times Will Come” for free from the project site.

I hope you enjoy this new song "Better" for Shonen Knife's 712 Day this year.
I wrote a positive song about "There is no rain that doesn't stop".
The image of the melody lines are 60's and 70's British pop.
Using voice memo of a smartphone and a tablet, I made demo tape.
It's very analog way. Risa and I recorded at the studio in Osaka.
Atsuko who is living in Los Angeles recorded the bass at her house and send the date to us through internet.
Then we mixed all the data.
It has become a convenient world!
Happy 712 Day! The 20th anniversary.
Have fun and enjoy Shonen Knife!
